Pat Peterson

I would like to honor the memory of my good friend, Pat Peterson (Pipe Circus/Avengers Assemble), by adding him to the Maximum Ink Hall of Fame for his years of service distributing Maximum Ink’s in Whitewater. Pat, this issue is dedicated to you!

BOMBLASTICA 2013: Maximum Ink’s 17 year anniversary party kicks off at 9pm on Saturday, March 23rd at the Frequency in Madison. No cover charge and four killer bands: One Last Run, American Dead, Government Zero and Dr. Noise. Sponsored by Take 5 Restuarant and Ignite Glass & Gifts, we’ll be giving away plenty of fun stuff!

PAULIE HEENAN: Please go to facebook.com/PaulieHeenanMemorial. There is a link and information about a petition being signed to have an impartial investigation of the death of Paulie Heenan who was shot by a Madison police officer three times in the chest. The officer was cleared criminally, but the public is not satisfied with an investigation by the officer’s peers that certainly seems biased in the face of witness testimony that does not support the officer’s claims, not to mention the officer’s previous use of excessive force in other situations.

Paulie is also on the ballot for a MAMA award for Sound Engineer of the Year, vote at www.themamas.org.

RÖKKER VODKA CHEF’S TABLE: The third RVCT takes place Wed., March 20th at the 8 Seasons Grille, 45 S. Bassett Street in Madison. The restaurant has really yummy food (I love their Breakfast Burrito) and Executive Chef Nick Baertschy and his brother Tom will infuse a four course dinner with Rökker Vodka. I’ll be shaking up some Rökkertini samples between courses. The Chef’s Tables have been a lot of fun and the food has been incredible! The 8 Seasons Grille changes their menu 8 times per year to take advantage of seasonal bounties that are purchased locally! You must make reservations by calling the 8 Seasons Grille at 608-819-1082 or emailing info@8seasonsgrille.com, cost is $40/person, see ad for menu and find Rökker Vodka on Facebook to keep informed.

WE MAKE MUSIC HAPPEN: Alejandro Velasquez loves local music. So much so that he’s up for a MAMA award for Fan of the Year, and he backs it up! He’s not a musician, but he certainly enjoys helping musicians, and to that end, started the Facebook group We Make Music Happen. The page helps to network musicians, venues and other music industry personell. Now the WMMH crew is embarking on a series of forums that are designed to bring the underground music community together to help work out the various problems they always face. Unity, networking and education seem to be their mantra… hmmm… reminds me of the old Musicians Guild. You can attend the first one on Sunday, March 24th at the Inferno Nightclub in Madison from 5:30-7:30pm.

MAX INK RADIO: MIR celebrates it’s 2nd year of existence on April 1st! Kudos to Jimmy K, Edub, Erotic Jesus, Ryan Schremp, Sandman, Jake Boyardi, Phoenix and the rest of the MIR DJ’s for continuing to make the station a reality. Show your support and come down to the Jimmy K Show live at the Wisco at 852 Williamson Street every Tuesday night from 6-9pm and check out the shows and guests at the beginning of our live music calendar.
