NATTY NATION announced today that their upcoming Bob Marley Birthday show will raise funds for Haiti Earthquake Relief. The band also developed a way for their fans to immediately donate to the relief so desperately needed in Haiti. They are also looking at ways for fans attending their next show to use a lyric from their Hurricane Katrina anthem, “Hurricane” to “throw a lifeline” by donating needed cash.
In partnership with FanBridge, the company that manages the band’s email list and Direct Relief International, NATTY fans can make an online donation to the relief effort. Through Direct Relief, 100% of the money donated goes towards Haiti relief efforts. There are no overhead fees or administrative fees. It’s pure help.
The link to donate: http://bit.ly/Haiti_Natty
Please join the international community in showing support for those in need in Haiti.
On January 14th, NATTY NATION, Madison County & Super Tuesday performed at a Middleton fundraiser for Domestic Abuse Intervention Services. The event raised $28,134. We celebrate and give thanks for the generosity working to eliminate violence.
Bob Marley helped define reggae music as a prophetic voice for the powerless and disenfranchised. NATTY NATION’s music is inspired by Marley but is all original songs. NATTY does not typically perform Marley’s songs. The one exception is Bob Marley’s Birthday Show. How fitting is it to hear Marley’s words as we see Haiti suffer?
At the High Noon Saloon on Saturday, February 6th, fans will hear the music that defined reggae as a popular musical genre. They will be reminded that the struggles for basic human rights along with food, clothing and shelter for our brothers and sisters is our struggle and our responsibility. Especially now, it is time for all of us to rise up and share our love and resources with those literally needing a lifeline.
Joining NATTY NATION will be Zach Deputy, Heatbox, Tropical Riddims Sound System and Mt. Zion Sound System. Doors are open at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $7 in advance at high-noon.com or $10 at the door.

Southern Wisconsin quintet LUNA MORTIS has been dropped by Century Media Records, the label that released the band’s debut album, “The Absence”. The CD, which came out in in February 2009, was tracked at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida with producer Jason Suecof (ALL THAT REMAINS, TRIVIUM).
Comments frontwoman Mary Zimmer: “Does this mean LUNA MORTIS will not be releasing another album? No. It just means that soon, we will be label-less and have a few decisions to make about what our next move will be and what we’d like to do in regard to the future of the band.”
LUNA MORTIS will be the direct support for PRIMAL FEAR on a North American tour in May-June 2010. Zimmer states, “It’s going to be a great tour, covering more of the U.S. this time, including Texas and some southern areas we have never played before. We look forward to going out on the road with PRIMAL FEAR, who are an excellent band and terrific musicians.”
LUNA MORTIS’s “Forever More” video can be viewed below. The clip was directed by David Brodsky, who has previously worked with ALL THAT REMAINS, BLEEDING THROUGH, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER and KITTIE, among many others.

Stephen Colbert, host of the hit Comedy Central show “The Colbert Report,” mentioned legendary Madison, Wisconsin street performer Art Paul Schlosser during the “Tip of the Hat - Wag of the Tail” segment on his July 30, 2009 show.
At the end of the skit segment (officially Schlosser appears at 12:42 minutes) Colbert compares Schlosser to rock band “the Movits!” who have increased their Amazon ranking because of their appearance on the Colbert Report.
“Before Movits! came on my show” Colbert rants, they were Novits! Now, they will be available on iTunes. That’s right, I’ve brought Movits! to the same cultural Everest as, say, Madison, Wisconsin street performer Art Paul Schlosser… You’re welcome, Mr. Schlosser.”
Movits! went from 93,400 to 75, Art currently sits at a ranking of over 200,000 so now we’ll really see how powerful you are Mr. Colbert!
How did Mr. Colbert come across Art Paul Schlosser in the first place? A former writer from The Onion, the weekly satire newspaper founded in Madison, now writes for the Report.
