BLS’ FIRST-EVER CHRISTMAS TUNE “THE FIRST NOEL” AVAILABLE ON iTUNES NOW; PROCEEDS FROM TRACK DONATED TO THE ZAKK AND BARBARANNE WYLDE FOUNDATION AT ST. JUDE’S
Black Label Society has partnered with VEVO for the world premiere of BLS’ hysterical new video “Overlord.” The video can be viewe here
. The video, directed by Master Cylinder, finds guitar legend Zakk Wylde and his Black Label Society in a satire of 70’s Kung Fu movies. Wylde is featured as the Bruce Lee-type action hero (yellow jumpsuit and all) in hot pursuit of the Overlord…in this case an old lady who holds the key to a very special prize. “Overlord” will be the next single from Black Label Society’s latest album ORDER OF THE BLACK; it follows the breakthrough Top 20 rock radio track, “Parade Of The Dead.”
In other Black Label Society news, the first-ever BLS Christmas tune, “The First Noel” is available now on iTunes. The track is a beautiful instrumental which highlights Wylde’s prowess on the acoustic guitar. Black Label Society’s proceeds from sales of the single will be donated to The Zakk and Barbaranne Wylde Foundation at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, a charity The Wyldes have long supported. New York hard rockers Black Water Rising are proud to announce that NHL team, the New Jersey Devils are using their song “Rise” from their self-titled debut as the Devil’s Army theme song which can be seen in their 2010-11 season opening video. The song is featured as part of the “RISE UP!” Campaign used to rally the Devils and their fans. The song is also being blasted at all Devils home games this season as they take the ice.
Hockey enthusiast and bass player of BWR, Oddie McLaughlin had the following to say about the band’s song being embraced by the Devils and their Legion of fans: I’ve been a huge hockey fan since I was a kid and to have our song ‘Rise’ played before the New Jersey Devils is beyond my wildest dreams. So let’s drop the puck and ‘Rise’ to a new level of hockey. Go Devils!
Black Water Rising’s self-titled debut release is available now on Giddy Up! Records. Giddy Up! Records is a brand new label with distribution through Sony/RED. The album artwork was designed by “Mister Sam” aka Sam Shearon, the renowned artist from England who has done work for Rob Zombie, Godhead and ESP guitars.
In what can only be described as a bizarre coincidence, following an exhaustive re-sequence marathon, Beastie Boys have verified that their new Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 will be comprised of the same 16 tracks originally slated for inclusion on Hot Sauce Committee Part 1.
The record (part 2 that is) will be released as planned in spring 2011 on Capitol.
The tracks originally recorded for Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 (which now are actually back on Part 1) have now apparently been bumped to make room for the former Hot Sauce Committee Part 1 material. Wait, what?
“I know it’s weird and confusing, but at least we can say unequivocally that Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 is coming out on time, which is more than I can say about Part 1, and really is all that matters in the end.” says Adam “MCA” Yauch. “We just kept working and working on various sequences for part 2, and after a year and half of spending days on end in the sequencing room trying out every possible combination, it finally became clear that this was the only way to make it work. Strange but true, the final sequence for Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 works best with all its songs replaced by the 16 tracks we originally had lined up in pretty much the same order we had them in for Hot Sauce Committee Part 1. So we’ve come full circle.”
Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 marks Yauch, Mike “Mike D” Diamond, and Adam “Ad Rock” Horovitz’s first full length effort since 2007’s Grammy winning all-instrumental The Mix-Up. The new track listing of the album is now as follows:
1. Tadlock’s Glasses
2. B-Boys In The Cut
3. Make Some Noise
4. Nonstop Disco Powerpack
5. OK
6. Too Many Rappers (featuring NAS)
7. Say It
8. The Bill Harper Collection
9. Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win (featuring Santigold)
10. Long Burn The Fire
11. Funky Donkey
12. Lee Majors Come Again
13. Multilateral Nuclear Disarmament
14. Pop Your Balloon
15. Crazy Ass Shit
16. Here’s A Little Something For Ya
Recently nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2011, Beastie Boys are the single longest lived hip-hop act to continue to enjoy commercial and critical success. Formed in 1981, Beastie Boys first changed the course of popular music when their 1986 debut album Licensed To Ill became the first hip hop record to reach #1. Since then, Diamond, Horovitz and Yauch have amassed 40 million in record sales of a critically acclaimed canon including 1989’s landmark Paul’s Boutique, 1992’s Check Your Head, the #1-debuting trifecta of 1994’s Ill Communication, 1998’s Hello Nasty and 2004’s To The 5 Boroughs, and 2007’s The Mix-Up. Beastie Boys’ innovative videos earned them MTV’s Video Vanguard Lifetime Achievement award in 1998, while a Madison Square Garden show shot by 50 audience members was painstakingly edited into AWESOME; I F——N’ SHOT THAT!, which debuted at Sundance in 2006. The band has also been lauded for its humanitarian efforts, ranging from organizing the Tibetan Freedom Concert series which drew attention to the Chinese government’s human rights violations in Tibet, to the New Yorkers Against Violence benefits, whose proceeds went to organizations chosen for their efforts on behalf of September 11th victims least likely to receive help elsewhere.

An exciting performer and expert keyboards and accordion player, Buckwheat is an innovator who crafted a bold new sound for zydeco, the music of the Creole, French-speaking Blacks of Louisiana. In addition to his well-received innovations, Stanley “Buckwheat” Dural Jr. is a pioneer in many ways. He is the first zydeco artist to have been signed to a major record label, the first to have launched his own record label, the first to perform on a national television show, the first to release a children’s album, and the first zydeco artist to win an Emmy award! Most lately, he recorded two Bob Dylan songs with Yo La Tengo for the 2007 film “I’m not there.”

- Rare Document Breaks Record for Highest Amount Achieved Through LiveAuctioneers by a Non-US Auction House -
New York, NY – December 4, 2008 – www.liveauctioneers.com, the leading online resource for high end art, antiques and collectibles, announced today the online sale of the Beatles’ first contract for $211,597, the highest amount ever achieved through LiveAuctioneers by a non-US based auction house. The historic document which cemented the Fab Four’s partnership with manager Brian Epstein in 1962 was featured as part of a live and online auction conducted on November 27 by the Fame Bureau in London.
LiveAuctioneers’ CEO, Julian R. Ellison, said he was “ecstatic to see that people have the confidence to purchase items online at this price level. Because this was the very first contract signed by the Beatles and Brian Epstein, it is especially significant to the history of pop music. There’s no overestimating its importance.”
The Fame Bureau described the contract as an important document in both music and British history.
All four members of the Beatles signed the initial contract on Jan. 24, 1962. The Fame Bureau’s auction catalog noted that, according to Epstein’s memoirs, the Beatles’ first manager refrained from signing the management contract to give the lads the ability to walk away from the agreement if he did not fulfill his promise of landing them major recording contract. By Oct. 1 that year, Epstein, believing he had thus far fulfilled his role as manager, had added his name to the contract. He had signed the Beatles to a recording contract with EMI, and their first single, Love Me Do, was about to be released.
The five-year contract called for Epstein to receive 25 percent of the gross earnings of the band. The document detailed Epstein’s obligations, including undertaking all advertising and publicity for the musicians and advising them on matters concerning clothes, makeup and presentation and construction of their acts.
Included on the document are the signatures of George Harrison’s and Paul McCartney’s fathers, as those younger Beatles were under the age of 21. The contract contains two signatures by John Lennon, who, inadvertently signed in the wrong place. Realizing his mistake, he struck through the first signature and signed again in the correct position.
This contract was later updated by a supplementary agreement, also signed by all parties on Jan. 22, 1963, which was included with the lot. All signatures on both the management contract and the supplementary agreement were accompanied by a red wax seal and the signatures of attending witnesses.
Ellison remarked that there has been no downturn in the bidding volume through LiveAutioneers since the recent woes in world financial markets. “It has held very strong,” he said. “As a general trend, people are turning more and more to the Internet for all types of buying. We’ve noticed a marked bidding increases in sales conducted by auction houses internationally, as well.”
Founded in November 2002 and recently named to Inc. Magazine’s 2008 list of the 5000 fastest-growing privately held companies, Manhattan-based www.liveauctioneers.com provides real-time Internet bidding capability to more than 730 auction houses in a dozen countries. LiveAuctioneers.com has opened up once-exclusive sales to the cyber community worldwide through online publication of auction catalogs, and Internet bidding. Similar to telephone bidding, buyers at remote locations can conveniently participate in auctions in real time from their computers as the auction is being conducted. There is no cost to register and no obligation to bid; anyone can watch the action online, in real time. For further information, log on to www.liveauctioneers.com.
