This issue is dedicated to the memory of our fallen comrade Brian Barney, whom you have known here since 2004 as the writer “Lane Klozier.” Brian passed away last month without warning. Family, friends, band mates, fans and Maximum Ink mourn the loss.
Maximum Ink Holiday Party: Come down to the Frequency, just off the capitol square in Madison on Main Street, on Thursday, December 17th and celebrate the holidays with Maximum Ink. There is no admission starting at 9pm. We will have a free Vodka tasting with Yahara Bay Vodka and free munchies from Bunky’s Café.
Two great Madison bands will host the night. First up, El Donk plays the ABC’s. The Donksters, aka Donk Floyd, will play classic songs from bands that start with the letters A-F. Who knows what that really means, just a way to get them to play their awesome versions of cover tunes plus a few originals. In case you’ve never heard them, they are a four piece band with guitar, bass, drums and sax. It’s witty, zany, fun rock ‘n roll. It’s definitely not “run of the mill.”
Baghdad Scuba Review will follow, bringing their brand of rootsy rock n roll and jammy good vibrations.
Last Crack: Amazing show, great crowd, great show. I would like to thank Rick Driese and the staff at Scatz for the great job they did handling our show. A very special thanx also goes to Eric Allin and the crew of WYOU TV (wyou.org), John Machnik, Joe Ramos and Danny Davis for all their help with the filming of the show. The view of the video mix on the 100 plus TVs was AMAZING! Everyone else who helped: Full Compass, Good n Loud, Chris Havey, Dan Droster, Matt Fay, Jeff Grieshammer, Greg Ginter, Susan Masino, Helen, Alice, Dan, Nikki, Stephen, Randy Hawke, Johnny Danger, Greg Bair and all at WJJO… hope I didn’t miss anyone. Thanx a million for helping to make a great concert. And special recognition to Randy Green who produced the album Sinister Funkhouse #17 twenty years ago.
Adventures with Nikolai: Happy 7th birthday Nikolai! Nikko’s favorite things to do are wrestle with his dad, martial arts class, build with Legos, and play with Uncle Dan.
