Summer Metal Meltdown: Join Max Ink writer Chris Fox at the Annex in Madison on Saturday, August 22nd for Maximum Ink’s Summer Metal Meltdown. The night will feature Madison metalers Lords Of Discipline and the release of their new CD along with Breech, As Above So Below, and Black With Envy.

The show will be for ages 18+ with no cover, but also offer those over 21+ FREE Ale Asylum Hopalicious which will be available on the Regent Street Retreat side.

Lords of Discipline will also be shooting video footage for an upcoming music video, so come down to be in the vid!

Atwood Summerfest: Thanx to the great crowd coming down to Atwood Summerfest and helping out the Goodman Community Center. I thought it was the biggest crowd yet.

That might be in part due to Mark, owner of Player’s Bar. A special thanx for inviting us on his WTDY radio show “The Man Up show.” It was a lot of fun, let’s play poker!

A special thanx to “Rökker’s Mom,” as she’s listed on the Atwood poster, for catering in the food for the bands backstage. If there were an award for “Mom of the Year” or “Chef for the Bands”, the awards would be hers! And thanx to Rökker’s Dad too!

A full shout out to Otto over at the Ale Asylum for helping us to provide great music and great beer for the festivals and showcases… oh, and putting out some great beer!!

A wink to Lars and Yahara Bay Vodka…. Everybody loves vodka, no?

And a salute to Debra at Goodman who has to deal with me all year.

Last Crack: Some of you may have heard a rumor that the original version of Last Crack will be playing for the 20 year anniversary party for Sinister Funkhouse #17 on Roadracer/Roadrunner records. Well, It’s true, Philo will be pounding the skins for the first time in concert since their farewell show on 12/31/91. The historic show will be held at Scatz on Madison’s Westside on November 14th.  This is gonna be a Black Bear reunion, I can see!

Mentioning the Scatz discount at the Marriot Courtyard, who share the same parking lot as Scatz, will get the Last Crack discount! Tickets will be announced by September, go to LastCrack.com/facebook for more information.

Adventures with Nikolai: Nikko had a blast at the Atwood Summerfest running around backstage with Xiola, Timmy, Nidas, and Mantas. While shifting hats backstage, Nikko came running up trying to peel the back off of a Broadjam.com sticker. I had to help out and when I gave him the ready-to-stick sticker he told me to slap it on my shirt like a badge, it was for me. I wore that for the rest of the festival.
