Adham Shaikh - Basswalla

Pioneering work in the “global bass” style, Canadian musician Adham Shaikh’s Basswalla release culminates his 25-year dedication to creating and perpetuating the global fusion side of electronica. The suffix “-walla” indicates mastery in a particular discipline in India and so it is used here as an accent to his dedication as well as his return to his Indian roots. Traditional Indian rhythms and beats are spiced up with bass heavy electronica creating sensational palettes of saucy dance delectables to sample and savor.

Kognitif - Soul Food

Swinging trip hop jazz simply emanates from this French DJ! Clever samples float over experimental beats and abstract combinations of soul and hip hop grooves, while later, smooth down tempo beats are worked around strangely startling musical eruptions before catapulting to entirely new musical plateaus. Enticing and entertaining.

Ryanosaurus - Conscious Comfort

Australian producer Ryan Whare (aka Rynasaurus) weaves a fascinating release by combining a variety of tantalizing instrument and foley recordings with glitchy digital elements. His exploration of a variety of emotions, burbling and warbling textures, and distant psychedelic universes tickles the mind and spit shines the soul. And don’t we all need at least a little more of that?

Vermillion - Vermillion

Death metal comes in many forms, speeds and inclinations. This Madison based foursome likes their brutality slow but super heavy and in a retro vein. These long time scene supporters and metal monsters unleash their fury to the unsuspecting masses amidst bursts of putrid passion, societal vulgarity and eviscerating attitude.

Death. The importance of the moment of death has been recognized by Tibetan Buddhism for 1000’s of years. This is a pivotal doorway to our eternal consciousness. How we approach this becomes our life’s final journey. Transition offers 15 tracks of etheric prayers, uplifting mantras, and thought provoking chants spun with ancient as well as contemporary interfaces that are designed and offered in support of this process of dying.

Ott - Fairchild

Distant warbles of dubtastic goodness are chopped expertly into blissful bubbles of electronica and sizzled with splashes of multi-ethnic relish. Etheric vocals are found amid idiosyncratic wompy bass delicacies and a hyper surreal psychedelic undertow. After a 4 year wait, the English producer known as OTT, with help from a couple dozen or so musicians, has provided us with a wonderful new sonic adventure so we can all explore how to be fairchildren too. Trevor Hall - Kala

Kala is the final installment in a trilogy of introspection and self discovery for Hall which began in earnest 2 years ago with a trip to India. This experience infused his already meta-minded acoustic rock with a wider sense of knowing and meditative bliss. Meaning “time” in Sanskrit, Kala unfolds and unwinds angles of ambiguity, fluidity and paradoxes based on time while offering rivers of healing sounds.

Emancipator - Seven Seas

Peppered with guest musicians ranging from vocal to orchestral, this 4th studio release from the downtempo electronic maestro known as Emancipator (aka Doug Appling) combines organic with digital contributions expertly and effortlessly. Cosmic chill out beats evolve and travel to distant futures as textures and rhythms mystify and mesmerize through the constantly shifting and restructuring infrastructure.
