Andy Frasco & The UN - Change of Pace

Super fun and party forward, Andy Frasco & The UN have toured through 10 countries, average 250 shows per year and have somehow managed to output 10,000+ hours playing music. Sunsquabi - Instinct

This Colorado based hydro funk trio really takes flight on their newest release. Each track instinctively takes on the name of a different animal or insect, led by a three-track series of singles “Caterpillar,” “Chrysalis,” and “Night Moth.” Technical wizardry shines on each track, propelled by signature wailing guitars, slithering synths and slap happy improvisational jams. Another blissful display of stunning sonic glory! Poranguí - Poranguí

The red rocks of Sedona, AZ hold space for the musician, healer and creative spirit known as Porangui. He was cross culturally raised between Brazil, Mexico, and the Southwestern United States before training in ethnomusicology at Duke University, so his music draws from all of these. Poranguí’s signature World Soul style is created by using analogue hardware loopers, fx pedals, indigenous instruments and his voice to create mystical soundscapes capable of transporting listeners across space and time to a place of healing.

Mindex - Sleep Deprivation

Russian born all original electronic composer, Mindex, touts a terrific topography composed of modern synthesizers and effects morphed into lush layers of melodic patterns and textures. While his other works are more upbeat and punchy, this release really takes the sleep deprivation aspect to heart and is dreamy, ambient and other worldly.  He will be fully awake though on 4/26 (with Milwaukee’s own Deerskin) at Ruby Madison in Madison, WI. Nango Manchay - Under Our Sun

Incorporating instruments and original recordings from all corners of the earth (Nepal, Australia, Central America), this “tribute to the unification of humanity and the common goals of peace and understanding” is a multi layered musical marvel that weaves together traditional genres to create a magnificent tapestry of inspiration and sound. Connected by contemporary downtempo and bass-centric undercurrents, this guitarist and sitar player makes sure that the sound of actual plucking and strumming is still heard and appreciated.

Ayla Nereo - By the Light of the Dark Moon

The delicate interplay of vocal melodies and seductive rhythms is what makes this a standout release. Often collaborating and touring with Polish Ambassador, this sixth solo album for singer-songwriter Ayla Nereo finds her on her own, with her sound stronger and more developed than ever. The overlying concept of the album deals with shadow work and the healing reconciliation of self acceptance. As such, this dark moon-light brightens and grows with each listen! Griz - Ride Waves

Some of the fattest, most exciting beats I have heard in a while! Griz’ 5th studio album is riding BIG! Bigger beats, bigger sounds, and bigger collaborators (Snoop Dog, Wiz Khalifa, Bootsy Collins). While the vibes are high, the grooves are deep and the beats are blasting, Griz covers a lot of other territory too, reflecting his immersion into societal influences, culture amid a pleasant variety of soundscapes and musical approaches. Maybe you will be lucky enough to see him on May 17 at Armory in Minneapolis, MN

Wolf Tech - Weird World

UK producer Wolf Tech (aka Tom Chant) embarks on a sonic adventure of great depth and magnitude. The psybass rhythms pulse and propel listeners to psychedelic worlds with cinematic vision, while melodic yet dynamic and driving dubstep delivers hi-tech trajectories into distant lands filled with spaced out ambiance and modern musical eruptions. Immerse yourself!

SOOHAN - Trānsmūtō

Accelerating his unique musical style of amalgamating global snippets formulated from a persistent multi cultural appreciation, SOOHAN’s infectious 7th album, named from the Latin trāns- + mūtō (“change, alter”), uniquely splices kitchy American pop music with regional dance and folk music into bass heavy mixes. His sample heavy electronic experiments are clever and entertaining to listen to, as well as catchy and danceable (if ya wanna get up and shake!)

Freekbass - All the way this. All the way that.

With his backing group, The Bump Assembly, Freekbass’ seventh full length album harnesses the funk forward Cincinnati sound and merges it with universal influences from the 70s through tomorrow. This gyrational groove goodness not only shows off the innovative styling of Freekbass including his signature double thumb strumming technique and driving rhythms, but gives him plenty of room to show off wild costumes and vigorous live show. Maneesh de Moor - Icaro

An Icaro (or sonic pattern) is a melody traditionally received by a shaman journeying in the spirit world. The Icaros contained here are contemporary interpretations of Icaros derived from Shipibo tradition, and altered to be played on special flutes, made of Tobacco branch and ancient wood. The recordings are nested amid original field recordings of the Amazon jungle by night and are highlighted by instruments like the ‘Chakapa’, an instrument made of leaves from the ancient Chakapa bush, which provides a very trance-like groove mated to the heart beating rhythms of a shaman’s drum. Superbly done!
