Dub Kirtan All Stars - Bhakti Juggernaut

What began as a one off performance instigated by David Starfire and FreQ Nasty (Darin McFadyen) in a Buddhist temple in Los Angeles has taken flight and blossomed into this full on Bhakti Juggernaut! Melding sacred Sanskrit chants and mantras into drum n bass electronica sprinkled with conscious hip hop lyrics and a host of guest musicians sets the stage for this inspirational uprising of the highest order. Little Fyodor and Babushka - Truly Rejected

Nothing gives me a hard on more than Little Fyodor and Babushka releasing a 7”! And after 20 years of musical self dejection and fatalistic floundering the duo emerge with another round of hopeless cynical caterwaulings certainly capable of creating an aneurysm in less than one bat shit crazy chord or confounded utterance. You won’t find another like this.

Baroness - Purple

They ascended to top of the metal heap with their masterpiece Yellow and Green, only to be thrust into temporary oblivion by a tragic bus accident, resulting in among other things fractured vertebrae and near limb amputation. This broke the band into pieces causing the loss of 2 members and a lot of momentum. Their return, Purple, finds their angst, wounds and determination woven into another tantalizing musical tapestry of intense emotion pounding and atmospheric groovy refrains while offering a home to two new members and their own record label. Bei Bei & Shawn Lee - Year of the Funky

Matching Chinese guzheng (zither) virtuoso/composer Bei Bei with the prolific multi-instrumentalist/producer Shawn Lee
(of Shawn Lee’s Ping Pong Orchestra) is nothing short of magical and brilliant. This is their second combo release of genre bending, classically spun ancient musical mysteries hung amid studio magic and guitar landscapes. Mysterious emanations abound and are appreciated.

Dutty Moonshine Band - Most Wanted

The electro swing genre keeps heating up and this debut album from Dutty Moonshine Band certainly fuels the fire! Capturing the swing era sound, then embellishing with skits and surprises before blasting it back to our future infused with hip hop, ghetto funk and filthy bass makes for a delicious slurp of manic musical entertainment.  This 14 piece big band from Bristol, UK brings zany amounts of energy and creativity to the stage when they headline festivals around the world. Brownout - Fear of a Brown Planet

After two awesome retooled Black Sabbath themed releases, this 9-piece award winning Austin, TX offshoot of Grupo Fantasma, brings us a heavy Latin funk and soul tapestry of blazing grooves and horn filled rhythms in this play on Public Enemy’s 1990 hip-hop classic Fear of a Black Planet. Woot!

Red Baraat - Sound The People

Bhangra beat music has many avenues to choose from and the crazy twists and turns that this now 6-piece outfit infuses it with is undeniably spectacular. Their brassy global perspective and experimentation continues to push the musical boundaries of psychedelic, jazz, hip-hop as well as what can be accomplished on individual instruments. Beanpole - All My Kin

As the story goes, this release was penned many years ago by an artist known as Beanpole, but it wasn’t until Sean Lennon heard these erstwhile commercially non-viable concoctions that the songs got green lighted for release. This is a sad carnival of extremely warped, bizarre and outlandish melodies, which include lyrics about food, farming, and mutants. All My Kin, features recordings from between 1984 through the late Nineties (and in reality features Les Claypool and Larry LaLonde, but were birthed by Derek Greenberg and Adam Gates).
