For over fifteen years Schubas has hosted some of music’s greatest talents, from all genres of music. As Chicago’s premiere small venue, its been lucky enough to be one of the first stops for some of today’s most successful acts, including: Tori Amos, The Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Death Cab For Cutie, and My Morning Jacket. In recent years, Broken Social Scene, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, The Decemberists, Jason Mraz, The Shins, Sufjan Stevens and Wolf Parade all made their Chicago debut on Schubas’ stage.
Schubas also plays host to some of Chicago’s most promising local acts, many of whom have taken part in the Practice Space residency program or helped close out the year at our New Year’s Eve party. Highlights include Bobby Conn, The Changes, Kevin Tihista, The M’s, Rachael Yamagata, and The Redwalls.
The music room’s intimacy lends nicely to larger acts who want to reward their fans with a return visit to Schubas. Most notably, in 2004, Train played five sold out January shows and, two months later, Neko Case played three sold out nights that were included on her recent live album “The Tigers Have Spoken.”
Regardless of past or future success, Schubas is a guaranteed spot for quality music. Check out www.schubas.com for more information and our music archive.
