PRIMER 55

New Release
Island Records
www.primer55.com

The first impression that Primer 55's album, "(The) New Release," gives you is that they are just another teen angst nu metal band.  However, as the album progresses, it doesn't take long to realize that there is more to Primer 55 than a trend.

The four-piece band creates a full sound, complete with raw, raging guitars and harsh vocals that fit perfectly with the sound Primer 55 are trying to create. Despite a powerful metal sound that dominates every track, there are a number of other influences and styles that lie intricately buried beneath everything else. The result is what gives them a unique sound among the rest of the rock bands surging the music scene at the moment.

While it would be a bit of a stretch to say that Primer 55 are a band possessing a brand new, completely distinctive sound, there are undeniably elements in their sound and style that cause them to stand out from the pack with a solid record.
