MODEST MOUSE
Everywhere And His Nasty Parlor Tricks
Epic Records
www.modestmousemusic.com

Instead of being responsible and staying home last night to write this review, I decided to walk down to a bar and have a drink. Well, that one drink turned into two, then to four and before I knew it, I was profusely drunk and in no condition to do anything, much less write a review of this eight track EP. So the following is a loose transcript of a conversation I had with my friend at that bar. To anyone reading this, I apologize "oh buddy, I got that new Modest Mouse EP."   "Cool, is it as good as Interstate 8? <Up records 1996>" replied my friend.  "Awe shit, not that incredible, but it's really good. I can't stop listening to it." I replied. My drunken friend paused for a second, then proclaimed "What's with their name? I hate bands that try to be so clever with there name, You take a band like Foghat or Dokken, you know they be all be about rockin, none of this look-at-our-funny-name shit."  "(Laughing loudly) did you try to rhyme right there?"   "No, that was pretty sweet! " Said my friend, now laughing with me.   "The EP is pretty short, but if you like modest mouse at all, you should buy it." I said while finishing the last of my drink.  A break in the conversation occurred, both of us looking into our empty glasses. Realizing we are out of money, have to work in the morning and didn't even have a good time, I stood up from my barstool "This is really pathetic, I should have stayed home and wrote a review for the CD. I'm going to go home and pass out" " Hey Kurt, you should have our conversation be your review for the new modest mouse"  "Nah" I said with a grin, "Rökker would never print that."
