B-SIDE PLAYERS
Movement
Surf Dog Records

The B-Side Players are a seven-piece from San Diego that has been honing their Latin, funk, rock, reggae, and soul sound as they've traveled the country over the last eight years. They effectively infuse their music with all the genres mentioned, with an emphasis on making their audiences lose themselves on the dance floor. If presented with a somewhat stale audience, they've been known to throw the planned set list out the window and ignite the crowd with full band percussive workouts. Having sold more than 25,000 copies of their self-released albums, the B-Side players are able to reach out to fans of many genres of music while not sacrificing the quality of any of the elements involved.

Movement is the band's first for a label and wears many hats, indeed. From a worthy cover of War's Spill that Wine to percussive Latin-dominated cuts like Puro Feeling and onto full-tilt reggae with the title track, Movement, the album manages to transcend typical genre boundaries without any of it sounding forced. With their relentless touring schedule, they should be in your area relatively soon. Their show is not an event to be missed. In the meantime, pick up Movement and enjoy an album of refreshing breadth and variety.
