ROAD TRIP

Please Disturb
Self Release
www.roadtripband.com

It seems that whenever my band plays out of town there's a poster for an upcoming  appearance by the band  Road Trip, and a club owner proud to have them playing.. For many years, Oshkosh's Road Trip has been the ultimate working class bar band, belting out anthemic rockers in that inmitible bass/drums/two guitars/hammond organ sound. So can the original tunes from their latest release, "Please Disturb", stack up to the cover tunes they play so well? Yes. The CD opens with "Two Days", a "Hard to Handle" style rave up, and offers many joys from there, such as the catchy verse of their song "Icarus", the lyrics "Felt the whisky kicking in/I don't think I'll ever win" from "Dog", some nicely done blue-collar balladry in "Piece of Hell", and a catchy piece of punk fluff about a cat with two teeth named "Murry". The production puts the vocals and guitars out front, but doesn't sacrifice the rhythm section to do so, the vocals are well sung and feature some nice harmonizing. Altogether an enjoyable rocker from a very popular Wisconsin band.
