GOD DETHRONED Ravenous Metal Blade Records www.goddethroned.com
On their latest release "Ravenous," God Dethroned, take us on a blasphemous rampage through the savage garden. Opening with the critical and
accusatory track Swallow the Spikes attacking clergy and then moving on to The Poison Apple portraying the temptation in the Garden of Eden, the music progresses with an unstoppable and brutality and intensity. With
both Henri and Beef on vocals you get an excellent dimension with the varied growls and screams and their contrasting pitches. Tony Laureano's (Angel Corpse, Nile) drumming on "Ravenous" brought a new
speed and fervor without sacrificing God Dethroned's style. Although the base seems to occasionally get lost in the din the guitar work is outstanding, jumping right out and slapping you in the face. Among the
11 crushing tracks that comprise this album is an excellent cover of Death's Evil Dead. Every now and again an album comes out that truly renews my faith in death metal and with "Ravenous", God
Dethroned, have done just that.
