THE PUTA PONS
Return To Zero

I moved to Wisconsin just in time to see my three favorite Madison bands Rhoda, Fez Petting Zoo and Jr. High break up and move to Chicago in the Mass Madison Musical Migration of 1998.  Parts of Fez and Jr. High merged together into The Returnables who have treaded the road pretty regularly, but Rhoda stayed put, changed their name to the puta-pons, buckled down, played shows in Chicago and after trying out a hundred drummers finally got back to making records and "Return to Zero" is pretty much what the puta-pons have done.   Combining Rhoda's best songs along with new ones, "Return to Zero" will not disappoint the punk enthusiast.  Shelly Kurzynski Villasenor's trademark buzzsaw/gutbucket guitar is right on the mark, proving once and for all that she can rock harder than most male guitarist could dream.  Rebecca Crawford still plays a bass that is bigger than she is, her out-there harmonies, and call and response with Shelly is pure, unrestrained, primal rock bliss.  Their songwriting is hypnotically tight with no baloney or filler added.  "Return To Zero" is proof to their talent.
