ROSE POLENZANI

Playful, energetic and soulful, singer-songwriter Rose Polenzani has successfully captured her multifaceted charms before with just her voice and guitar, but in her first full band recording, accurately titled, "Rose Polenzani," she absolutely blossoms.  With a delivery that curls from coy girlish whispers to raggedy cries, Rose conveys unguarded moments with authentic disclosure. Creating a spider web of acoustic guitar and confession that suggests a Joni Mitchell vibe with Rickie Lee Jones overtones, Rose proves herself equally adept at the tantric depths of Liz Phair and P J Harvey.  Her band's spare, muscular backing include stinging steel guitars and some good old rump-shaking rhythms that render her songs both bluesy and cathartic. Open and refreshing, sharp and voyeuristic, "Rose" cuts and touches, cares and crushes.
