BLACK BOX RECORDER
The Facts Of Life
Touch & Go Records

After Receiving The Facts of Life by Black Box Recorder, I put it into my C.D. player and it has been in heavy rotation ever since!  Black Box Recorder consists of Sarah Nixey on vocals, Luke Haines on instrumentals, and John Moore also on instruments.  They have a wonderfully tongue-in-cheek brand of perversion.  Their lyrics deal with such adolescent topics as first kisses and holding hands without being adolescent at all. Their sound is much like a meeting of Pulp and Catatonia with a sweet twist of Belle and Sebastian to garnish the sound.  Crystal clear vocals (I'm a sucker for a good singer) unusual instrumentals, incorporation of synthesizers, sweet guitar playing, and electronic sounds are the land mark of this band. They have a great website where you can add your own facts of life. Its quite charming.
